Even The Apocalypse war, pretty much the bets of the epics, was pretty bitty and episodic and lurched about a bit. Dredd was always just as much about the weekly thrill as the grand arc, and the epic was largely a hanger for those weekly thrills.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7321253799411057654.post-39332452871600965892011-07-25T09:19:07.103-07:002011-07-25T09:19:07.103-07:00And I think "unprepossessing" is grossly...And I think "unprepossessing" is grossly unfair to UnAmerican Graffiti. It's the centre spread I remember most vividly from my first reading of this collection (i.e. 1981!) and it was one of those stories that really fleshed out MC1 for me, from Chopper's shopping trip to the vandalism of the Statue of Justice (was this its first major appearance? I started reading in prog 160-something...)Richard Younghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17213066768738392277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7321253799411057654.post-11594867577342551152011-07-25T09:15:35.158-07:002011-07-25T09:15:35.158-07:00The Sov-bloc self nuking in the Black Atlantic owe...The Sov-bloc self nuking in the Black Atlantic owes something, even if accidentally, to the denouement of brilliant sixties nuclear thriller Fail Safe.Richard Younghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17213066768738392277noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7321253799411057654.post-30118108470396811812011-07-25T01:18:13.965-07:002011-07-25T01:18:13.965-07:00Progs #351-352 had Dredd reprints in them too.
